A revista Wrestling Newsletter Observer nomeou o melhores do ano de 2012. Surpresa ou não, a New Japan Pro-Wrestling dominou a lista, estando em primeiro lugar em várias categorias e em segundo nas demais. Confira:

- Wrestler of the Year: Hiroshi Tanahashi (pela segunda vez consecutiva, Kazuchika Okada aparece em terceiro, atrás de CM Punk)

- Most Outstanding Wrestler: Hiroshi Tanahashi (Kazuchi Okada aparece em segundo lugar)

- Feud of the Year: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Kazuchika Okada

- Most Improved: Kazuchika Okada

- Best Flying Wrestler: Kota Ibushi (apesar de ser da DDT, lutou inúmeras vezes na NJPW, sendo até campeão)

- Promotion of the Year: New Japan Pro-Wrestling (acabando com a streak de 6 anos do UFC)

- Pro-Wrestling Match of the Year: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Minoru Suzuki (NJPW King of Pro-Wrestling - 8 de outubro)

- Best Major Wrestling Show: NJPW King of Pro-Wrestling

- Best Wrestling Maneuver: Rainmaker - Kazuchika Okada

- Best Booker: Jado & Gedo (segundo ano consecutivo)

- Bruiser Brodie Memorial Award (Best Brawler): Togi Makabe (atrás de Kevin Steen)

- Promoter of the Year: Takaaki Kidani (atrás de Dana White)
